Methodist Church of Riverview--RUMC for short. We
are a congregation with deep roots in Florida history
and the Methodist movement.  Our church began in
1846 not far from where it is located today.

For 166 years our congregation has been worshipping God and serving the Riverview community.  Our mission statement reads, “To know Christ and to make Christ  known.” That means we are focused on making disciples for Jesus Christ and encouraging them to serve Him in personal and unique ways.

Sunday Worship Schedule:

8:30 AM--Contemporary Service in the Sanctuary

9:45 AM -- Sunday School for All Ages.

11:00 AM--Traditional Service in the Sanctuary.

My name is Reverend Merritt A. Waters, and I have the honor and privilege of being the Pastor of First Riverview United Methodist Church.

We are delighted that you have decided to visit our church’s website.  I hope that you will find it both helpful and informative.

We are excited about what God is doing in our Church Family—where we are making friends for eternity.  Our church has a number of services, opportunities, and activities that I’m sure will appeal to you and your family.

How to Encounter Jesus Christ and
Experience Him Today:


  • Know that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.  (John 3:16-17)
  • Admit that you are a sinner.  (Romans 3:23)
  • Believe that Jesus died for your sins.  (Romans 5:12)
  • Confess your sins and receive forgiveness.  (1 John 1:9)
  • Decide to turn from your sin and turn to God.  (Acts 3:19)
  • Experience salvation by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, Lord and Friend. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Follow Jesus daily and live for Him. (Luke 9:23)

If you want to make this Wonderful and Life-Changing choice right now, then pray a prayer similar to the following;

“Dear God, I know that I’m a sinner.  I believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins.  I’m sorry for my sins, and I accept your offer of forgiveness.  I ask that you come into my heart, Jesus, as personal Savior, Lord and Friend.  Thank you for what you have done for me, and help me to follow you faithfully for the rest of my life.  Amen”
