Riverview United Methodist Church

Welcome to the website of the First United

Methodist Church of Riverview--RUMC for short. We

are a congregation with deep roots in Florida history

and the Methodist movement.  Our church began in

1846 not far from where it is located today.

For 163 years our congregation has been worshipping

God and serving the Riverview community.  Our mission

statement reads, “To know Christ and to make Christ

known.” That means we are focused on making disciples

for Jesus Christ and encouraging them to serve Him in personal and unique ways.

At RUMC we have groups and ministries for all ages.

Worship is the central and most important act of a disciple. On Sunday mornings we offer two distinct worship services. At 8:30 a.m. worship features contemporary Christian praise music in a less formal atmosphere. There is a special “children’s church” for children 7 years and younger. The 11:00 a.m. worship service is more “traditional” with hymns and choral music. Holy Communion is celebrated at each service on the first Sunday of every month.

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. each week. There are classes for all ages, from cradle to walker.  In addition to Sunday school we have a Pastor’s study group on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. At the same time there is a women’s study group. Each has short term study opportunities. Prior to these groups we have “potluck supper” each Wednesday. Bring your favorite dish and join in.

Other groups include: “Fusion” our middle-school/high school age fellowship group; Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts; United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men; Riverview Ringers (bells); Chancel Choir; and a liturgical dance team.

This service features the Youth and Adult Praise Bands with guitars, drums and contemporary music.

9:30 AM--Sunday School for All Ages

11:00 AM -- Traditional Service with Children's Moment

This service features the Church Choir and a more traditional order of worship and traditional hymns.
